Description

Drawing on the energy of a rock band and the Laurel Canyon songwriting of the ‘70s, THE LIL SMOKIES are reimagining their approach to roots music on Tornillo, named for the remote Texas town where the album was recorded. Produced by Bill Reynolds (The Avett Brothers, Band of Horses), Tornillo is the band’s third studio album. Formed in Missoula, Montana, The Lil Smokies have built a national following through constant touring, they have performed at Red Rocks, LOCKN’, High Sierra, Telluride, Bourbon & Beyond, and more.

“Phenomenal songwriters with otherworldly instrumental skills.” - Jambase

“The Lil Smokies have crafted a captivating album of songs that keep the flavor fresh, comprising their out-of-this-world string-skills and phenomenal songwriting with their latest release, Changing Shades. On their third studio album, the Montana-based quintet hop between their dynamic bluegrass roots with a punch of rock and hints of country heard in lead singer Andy Dunnigan’s silky-smooth vocals.” - Live For Live Music

"The Lil Smokies bring exuberance and tight musicianship to the stage." - Glide Magazine

As much as she's a songwriter, ESTHER ROSE is a scene setter, a crystallizer of moments, and a full-time inhabitant of the dimly-lit world depicted in her songs. Rose found her voice over the course of years spent regularly performing and recording in New Orleans, combining her DIY work ethic with an affinity for traditional country arrangements. Though still dressed with the dreamy lap steel, fiddle, and string bass accompaniment of earlier material, her sophomore album You Made It This Far took on a far more personal tone. The songs were at times cuttingly direct, with storytelling lyrics culled straight from lived experiences both stormy and revelatory.

This unadulterated self-searching reached new levels of emotional resonance on her third album How Many Times. Tracked live to tape with help from co-producer Ross Farbe from synth-pop band Video Age, Rose and her small band cultivate a warm, lived-in atmosphere to deliver songs that are deceptively restless and turbulent. Swaying vocal harmonies and dialed back, straightforward instrumental backing congeal around Rose's most fully realized work to date. As the album spins on, Rose navigates the chaos, upheaval, and exposed nerves of self-discovery, and tells the tale with an intimacy that makes even the most painful moments feel almost sweet.

Doors open at 7 p.m. with opener Esther Rose going on at 8 p.m.

COVID | How we scrub the air for everyone's safety: Our new HVAC system features Global Plasma Solutions' Needlepoint Bipolar Ionization technology, which safely cleans indoor air without producing ozone or other harmful byproducts. This patented technology produces a high concentration of positive and negative ions, which attach to unwanted particles, making them larger and easier to filter. When ions come in contact with pathogens, they disrupt the pathogens’ surface proteins, rendering them inactive. This system also saves up to 30 percent on energy consumption and lowers our carbon footprint.
